Hello My Ace and Aro Readers,
Well, I’m back. The newsletter is a little sparse this month, I’m in process of finding new reliable sources for the ace and aro “content” to make sure I’m not missing anything. For anybody who missed the announcement, the digital social and business meetings have switched days, moving forward the digital social meet up will be on the first Wednesday of the month and the business meeting will be on the first Thursday.

July is Disability Pride Month.
August is Transgender History Month.
As of August 2025, Ace LA will host monthly outdoor in-person (weather permitting) and virtual meetups. For in-person meetups and volunteering, you will be asked to mask unless eating or drinking and will be required to sign a waiver stating you understand the risk of exposure, and that you absolve Ace Los Angeles of any liability. Masks are available on request.
Ace LA has in-person social meetings, the second Sunday of every month.

Our Ears Are Burning!
This section is where we link you to articles and studies on asexuality and aromantisim.
On the legal gaps in anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination laws that leave sexual minorities such as asexuals and bisexuals unprotected.
The Human Rights Campaign released the results of a survey in April on declining acceptance of asexual people, gcn talked with Yasmin Benoit about the survey findings and the Ace Couple podcast discussed it as well.
The Journal Social Psychology and Personalty Science published research exploring the connection between romantic relationships and loneliness for asexuals.
The Journal of Sex Research published a study by the University of Kansas on how asexual and aromantic peoples view on intimacy. Kansas University News wrote about the study and the findings potential uses.

In this section we will spotlight an asexual or aromantic representation in media and entertainment news.
A list of 6 books on queer liberation and activism, which includes Sherronda J. Brown’s Refusing Compulsory Sexuality.
Book Reviews: Ace of Hearts by Caitlin Cooklin, an asexual graphic novel memoir. And Sky on Fire by E.K. Johnston, a science fiction novel following an asexual protagonist, functions as a loose sequel to Aetherbound.
Author Sarah Wallace ponders Old Hollywood, the Hayes Codes, and how they influence queer and ace interpretations of cinema.

This section is for informing you of requests for participation of aces and aros by other organizations, including studies, surveys, archive efforts, media projects, interviews, and policy / community feedback.
University of London is seeking asexual participants for a photovoice research project on lived experiences.
Teachers College at Columbia University is seeking asexual participants to discuss their experiences interacting with mental health professionals for a research study.
A professor at National University is looking for participants for a study of romantic/sexual relationships when 1 or more of the partners is ace-spec.
Aspec podcast is looking for people interested in being featured as guests.
AUREA (Aromantic-Spectrum Union for Recognition, Education, and Advocacy) is asking for your experiences as part of a book project on aromantisim and intersectionality.
Queer Author Emily Garside is writing a book on queer television and in an effort to include as much as possible is asking for people to fill out a survey on their experiences.
